figgeThe FIGGE Art Museum will host an opening reception for the 39th Fine Arts Exhibition at 5:30 p.m. on February 11, 2016. Awards will be announced at 7:00 p.m.

Artwork Delivery for the 39th Fine Arts Exhibition

figgeArtists who were accepted into the 39th Fine Arts Exhibition can ship or drop off their artwork to the FIGGE Art Museum.

Mailed works must arrive to the FIGGE Art Museum (225 West 2nd Street, Davenport, IA 52801) by January 25th with a prepaid return label enclosed.

Hand-delivered works may be delivered on January 29th and 30th from 10-4 pm. Pick-up dates for hand-delivered works are May 20th and 21st from 10-4 pm at the Figge Art Museum. ID may be required before works are released. The Figge Art Museum and the Rock Island Art Guild are not responsible for works left over 30 days.

Artists are responsible for the whole cost of shipping.

Julie Rodrigues Widholm the 2016 Juror for RIFAE

Julie Rodrigues Widholm is Director of De Paul Art Museum in Chicago. Prior to assuming her position at De Paul in August 2015, she was Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. With a broadly international scope that mirrors her childhood living in several countries including the U.S., Brazil, Mozambique, Portugal, and Germany, Rodrigues Widholm began her curatorial career working on ground-breaking exhibitions such as The Short Century: Independence and Liberation Movements in Africa, 1945-1994 and Tropicalia: A Revolution in Brazilian Culture and has continued to focus on working with artists from around the globe. She recently organized Doris Salcedo’s first retrospective at MCA Chicago, which traveled to the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Other recent curatorial projects include Amalia Pica co-organized with MIT List Visual Arts Center, Amanda Ross-Ho’s first outdoor public art project, Cauleen Smith: A Star is a Seed, and Rashid Johnson: Message to Our Folks.

Call For Entries: 39th Fine Arts Exhibition 2016

The Rock Island Art Guild is pleased to announce that the 39th Fine Arts Exhibition is moving to the The FIGGE Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa.

Juried Art Services is accepting submissions and processing the images. Artists can enter their artwork through the Juried Art Services Web site http://bit.ly/RIFAE2016

Applications dates are from September 7 to November 23, 2015. Artists will be notified by January 12, 2016.

39th Fine Arts Exhibition Registration

The 39th Annual Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition Call for Entries will be open Sept. 7 – November 23, 2015. Registration will be handled online by Juried Art Services.

Juror for the exhibit is Julie Rodrigues Widholm, curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The exhibition will take place at the FIGGE Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, February 6 – May 15, 2016.

Rock Island Art Guild Partners with the FIGGE

The Rock Island Art Guild is pleased to announce that the 39th Rock Island Fine Arts Exhibition will be located at The Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, from February 6 through May 15, 2016.

The application for the Call for Entries will be on the website in fall of 2015.

We look forward to working with the Figge Art Museum and are excited to see your high caliber artwork displayed is such a beautiful, well-respected museum!

Art Guild Supports Longfellow Liberal Arts Mural

The Rock Island Art Guild supported a Mississippi River Mural project at Longfellow Liberal Arts Elementary School in Rock Island. Students worked in small groups to paint scenes and animals from the Mississippi River which corresponded to studies they were doing in the classroom.
