Artwork by Denkmann Elementary students is on display at the Rock Island Public Library through the end of January. Inspiration for the projects revolved around masks from different cultures: Mexican folk masks, Ashanti masks (derived from carved wooden designs in Ghana, Africa) and Japanese Kabuki face painting masks. Mediums used were pastels, oils and paper mache.

The art projects were funded by the Rock Island Art Guild and Guild member Gloria Burlingame provided the instruction through a grant from money bequeathed to the guild by Stan and Bernice Harris.
